The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced a 17-member squad for their upcoming three-match Test series against Pakistan, set for October as part of the World Test Championship. The squad includes a mix of experienced players and fresh talent, signaling England’s intent to build on their recent successes.
Notably, Durham’s Brydon Carse and Essex’s Jordan Cox are the two uncapped players, while spinners Rehan Ahmed and Jack Leach return to the Test side. Eight members of the squad — Rehan Ahmed, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jack Leach, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and Ben Stokes — were part of England’s historic 3-0 Test series victory in Pakistan in 2022.
Rehan Ahmed, who made his Test debut in Karachi during the 2022 tour, will be aiming to further his experience and add to his four Test caps. Leicestershire’s Josh Hull, who debuted at The Oval this week, is set for his first senior tour with the England team.
Zak Crawley returns after missing out due to a fractured finger during the West Indies series in July. Meanwhile, Captain Ben Stokes, recovering from a hamstring injury, has also made the squad, providing leadership and experience as England eyes another successful series in Pakistan.
