In an intense match at the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) U17 Championship 2024, Bhutan salvaged a 3-3 draw against Pakistan with two late goals in extra time.
Bhutan initially led with a goal by Thinley Yezer at 25 minutes. Pakistan’s Khabib Khan equalized in the 38th minute, followed by Subhan Kareem’s goal, giving Pakistan a 2-1 lead. Bhutan fought back to level the score before Abdul Samad’s 67th-minute goal put Pakistan ahead again. However, Bhutan’s Tandin Phuntsho and Sonam Dhurji scored in extra time, securing a dramatic draw.
Pakistan previously defeated Nepal 1-0 and will now face Sri Lanka on September 25 in a crucial match to determine their qualification for the tournament.
